Ford and I had just finished. And somehow, I was the one left feeling like I was dying.
As if I weren’t even there, he picked up his phone and called her—Lyla. Her laughter burst through the speaker, sharp and grating. “Ask her if it burns down there! Come on, we need a review for our little bet!”
A bet?
My throat tightened. My skin felt like it was on fire, and they were treating it like some twisted game show. And Ford? He didn’t look panicked. He didn’t look guilty. He looked entertained.
“Stop being so dramatic,” he said with a smirk. “It’s just a joke.”
A joke. My humiliation was their punchline. My pain was their foreplay.
In that moment, the man I married ceased to exist.
Fine. If they wanted to play games, I’d show them how it’s really done.
