Synopsis
I was the biological daughter who had finally been brought home—but no one was happy about it. Every member of my family still favored the girl they had raised for sixteen years.
My three brothers, afraid I would take what they believed was rightfully hers, treated me with undisguised hostility.
My parents, terrified that my return would upset her, bent over backward to comfort and protect her instead. Not one of them ever stopped to ask how I felt. To them, my longing for love was nothing more than jealousy—a threat to the fragile peace they were desperate to maintain.
Then I fell ill. So ill that death was no longer a distant possibility, but an approaching certainty.
Afterward, my second brother discovered the journal I had hidden beneath my pillow. And when they finally read the truth I had never dared to speak aloud, the family that had once rejected me began to fall apart.
