Synopsis
On the same day my boyfriend, Benedict, married my best friend, Amelia, my swollen, unrecognizable body was found in a foul-smelling ditch—discovered by my own brother, Daniel. No one realized the corpse was mine, and without my identity, I was denied entry into heaven.
Then a cold voice whispered in the darkness: Dorothy, you will only find peace if your family claims your body within forty-eight hours. If they fail, you will fade into the void and be lost forever.
But no one is coming for me.
“She found a new boyfriend. She doesn’t want anyone looking for her,” Amelia said, holding up a fabricated photo as proof that I was still alive.
“Dorothy was just a gold digger,” Benedict sneered.
“She was always a good actress,” Daniel added, his voice devoid of warmth.
The two men who once meant everything to me never knew the truth: I died protecting someone I loved—only to be betrayed and cast into hell by the very person I tried to save.
