The Penitent’s End

Synopsis

After losing their baby, Chloe Parker transformed into the very wife Luca Moretti had once claimed he wanted.

She stopped sharing the trivial stories of her day. She no longer waited up for him or called again and again when he didn’t come home. She became quiet, composed—absent, even while standing right beside him.

So when she was falsely accused and taken to the police station, and the officers asked for a family member to post bail, Chloe simply said she had no one to call. With unsettling calm, she remained in detention for an entire week.

On the seventh evening, the iron gates finally creaked open.

Chloe had barely stepped onto the stone stairs when a black Maybach roared to a stop in front of her. The door opened, and Luca stepped out in a perfectly tailored suit—tall, sharp, impossibly composed. He looked as he always did: distant and immaculate, like cold moonlight spilling across an empty sky.
